# Problem statement

Despite the widespread adoption of loyalty programs, brands continue to face significant challenges that limit their effectiveness:

1. **Limited Interoperability:** Traditional loyalty points are locked within individual brands, restricting users from transferring or utilizing them across different businesses.

**Example:** Imagine you’ve been earning **Starbucks** rewards for months, collecting enough points for a free drink. But when you visit a different coffee shop, your points are **useless**—you can’t use them there or even redeem them for anything outside of Starbucks

2. **Low Customer Engagement:** Basic point-based systems fail to excite and retain customers, leading to reduced program participation.

**Example:** Traditional point-based programs, like a beauty store giving you **"500 points"** for purchases, often feel **boring and unexciting**. Now, imagine instead that a **luxury beauty brand** offers **limited-edition NFT skincare sets or exclusive digital collectibles** as rewards. Not only do these rewards feel more **exclusive and desirable**, but they also give customers a reason to stay engaged, trade, or even resell their rewards—turning loyalty into a **premium experience** rather than just another point system

3. **Fraud and Transparency Issues:** Centralized loyalty programs are susceptible to fraud, fake redemptions, and a lack of verification mechanisms.

**Example:** Fake or duplicate coupons and loyalty point scams have affected major brands like Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald's, where people exploit the system. Since traditional programs are centralized, it’s hard to verify if a reward is real or duplicated. Blockchain-based NFTs solve this by ensuring each reward is unique and verifiable

4. **Redemption Complexity:** Many loyalty points expire before use due to cumbersome redemption processes, reducing customer satisfaction.

**Example:** Many credit card rewards and airline miles have blackout dates, complex conversion rules, or expire before they can be used. Customers end up frustrated because they can’t redeem their hard-earned points easily. With NFT-based rewards, users could **trade or sell their rewards** if they don’t plan to use them, ensuring they never go to waste.

5. **Lack of Tangible Value:** Traditional points offer limited real-world benefits, making them less attractive to modern consumers.

**Example:** Most loyalty points are only useful within the issuing brand, and often have **no real-world value**. For instance, if a luxury brand like Gucci rewards customers with exclusive NFT-backed access to VIP events or limited-edition products, it creates an experience that is far more valuable than just earning "points" that may expire.

Our NFT-powered loyalty solution addresses these issues by leveraging blockchain technology and RWA integration to create a seamless, engaging, and valuable rewards system.
